Storefront Project

The Downtown Kingsport Association has been so gracious in letting the businesses in our downtown area sign up to decorate their storefront / office windows each month.....we decorated during the month of December for the holidays and was fortunate in being able to keep our display up during the month of January also....this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our business to downtown customers....Thank you DKA !!

Flowers Gone WILD !!!

I have been shuffling this dresser from one room to another for almost a year now awaiting it's makeover...There just seemed to be no room for it anywhere....The top had been replaced with piece of plywood before I purchased...so I am assuming there had been some damage and of course missing some handles...I did not want to spend the extra $$$ to fix it up for resell...so out the door it went yesterday....

Yeppers...Right to my patio...lined the drawers with some plastic...gave it some drain holes and planted away....Now it has become my little patio beauty...can't wait to find a spare mirror to attach....

I Love My Daddy

I could not wait to get to work on this little project today....I love photographing my little one and couldn't wait to have one of my own....We jumped on a chance of a beautiful day at the park  while daddy was off doing some construction for a friend...What a wonderful man we have in our life...I am a stay at home mother which most of you know that is a full time job in itself but we also have that opportunity of being able to stay with our children and watch them grow....I am able to do that because of the amazing husband that I have in my life and such a wonderful father to my children...We wanted to give him something special JUST BECAUSE....kudos to tip junkie and the inadvertent farmer for bringing this project my way..I am sure I will be making more of these in the future...What a nice gift for someone special.. http://go.tipjunkie.com/md/247/sweetgrace.typepad.com/the_inadvertent_farmer/2009/12/easy-photo-project-valentines-mothers-day-birthday.html

Sweet 60th

Just finished up my second dress form this morning....Wishing Pastor Lynn Darnell a Happy Sweet 60th Birthday....I knew she loved Purple and have been racking my brain trying to figure out something to purchase...I had been working on some other forms this morning and pulled this one to the table to get started and decided to snazz it up in some purple....What a better way for her to hang her purple Sunday Hat...

Dressing Up

Just finished up my first dress form....Wasn't for sure how it would turn out at first so I didn't take photos during the process...I am hoping to do a tutorial on the next group that I make...These are very simple to create...I will share the directions in the meantime...Find a dress form that you like...I borrowed this one from a store in our local mall...If you do borrow, make sure you take extra special care...I was also lucky when I gave my proposal to the manager of Victoria's Secret and was gave a nice dress form from their showroom to keep...WOW....Wrap the dress form with cling wrap completely as to not damage their form if borrowed...after wrapping securely, I proceeded to tear off masking tape bought from the local walmart...Place strips over entire form layering until you have used the entire roll for durability....Leave opening at top of neck and bottom of form...Once finished, slip scissors underneath back of form at bottom and cut up to the neck so that you can release from the from...one lifted from form...use your masking tape to seal back up your slit...I made a pattern with newspaper for the size of the neck and base and cut from plywood using a jigsaw and painted....stuffed form with shredded newspaper very tightly and hot glued my base and neck in....you may use a decoration, knob or finial for the neck ....Make sure you drill your hole if you include this option in the neck before gluing in place or you may glue to top of wood if you like...Now you are ready to paper mache your choice of papers to the form...I used the damask gift tissue on this particular form...so easy to put on with a small bucket of wallpaper paste or you can use decoupage...tissue paper seems to smooth out easily compared to gift wrap or thicker papers...decorate with your choice of ribbons and embellishments. Again I will try to work up a tutorial on one of these in the next few days...Plenty more to make as I am planning a Paris theme for an upcoming art show....so Check Back Soon...

I just love the DREAM...Sweet Dream...What a perfect word to go to sleep....

Added the same wording to the little foot stool...to match...

I think this turned out beautiful...I hope to have another little girl in the family some day....She will be spoiled rotten in Shabby Chic and Roses....Check back soon for a matching bookcase/toy box...
